Born in Kentucky in 2014, Tiz He the One is a striking dark bay Thoroughbred gelding with strong commercial bloodlines. As an OBS graduate, he began his career in the competitive two-year-old sales circuit before racing under the care of trainer Linda Rice and jockey Jose Lezcano.

Like many dedicated racehorses, Tiz gave everything asked of him. During his career, he sustained a significant pastern injury that required surgical stabilization. The procedure allowed him to remain comfortable, but it ultimately closed the chapter on his time in competition.

He also underwent a “tie-back” surgery — a procedure that supports airflow in horses who experience breathing challenges. While it improves respiratory function, it requires thoughtful, ongoing management to ensure continued comfort.

When his racing days were behind him, Tiz He the One found his way to Lucky Orphans Horse Rescue.

Today, he lives in sanctuary where his well-being comes first. Because of his history, he benefits from attentive hoof care, careful soundness monitoring, and ongoing respiratory support. Our team manages his environment and daily care with intention, allowing him to thrive within the safety of lifelong sanctuary.
