At Lucky Orphans, healing comes in many forms—and one of the most unique and deeply restorative offerings is Equine-Assisted Bowenwork with Danielle.

Bowen is a gentle, hands-on technique that helps reset the body’s nervous system and activate its natural ability to heal. When paired with the calming presence of a horse, this experience becomes even more powerful. Horses are incredibly intuitive, and their ability to mirror human emotions allows for deeper awareness, release, and relaxation. Bowen Therapy is a holistic, soft-tissue technique that relaxes and returns the body to a healing state. It allows the body to “reset” by activating the parasympathetic nervous system. Each gentle and precise movement or touch is performed in a specific location: over tendons, muscles, nerves, and meridians. These Bowen “moves” send signals to the brain. The signals over-ride conscious movement and thought, directly stimulating the innate healing mechanisms of the body. This signal also stimulates the proprioceptors in the muscle tissue, creating a message that alerts the nervous system that the “emergency is over.” Once the body recognizes that it no longer needs to be stuck in the “fight or flight response,” it begins to heal. Bowen helps the body remember how to heal itself. It is an essential tool to facilitate whole-body healing. The specific objectives may vary from person to person, but there is always focus on relaxation and reduction of the stress response.Danielle, a certified Bowenwork practitioner and longtime LOHR wellness partner, facilitates these sessions alongside one of our carefully selected equine partners. Each experience is customized to the client’s needs and may include time for grounding, intention-setting, observation of the horse’s responses, and direct Bowen treatment in the peaceful setting of the farm.
