Cadbury

Cadbury’s story is one of survival, strength, and a lifetime of second chances. In 2003, Cadbury was rescued from a camp in Patterson under heartbreaking conditions. She was found tied to a post alongside two other horses, still tacked, with no access to water or shade. Her body showed the toll of neglect. covered in lice and suffering from untreated wounds that had become infested. It was a situation no horse should ever endure. But that moment was not the end of Cadbury’s story—it was the beginning.

When she arrived at Lucky Orphans Horse Rescue, her recovery required immediate and intensive care. With proper medical treatment, nutrition, and consistent handling, Cadbury began to heal—first physically, and then emotionally.

Over time, her resilience became undeniable. Cadbury went on to live a full and meaningful life—from training, to the show ring, and into steady partnership with people. She proved that even horses who come from the hardest beginnings can learn, trust, and thrive when given the chance.

Today, at 30 years old, Cadbury is fully retired, enjoying the peace she earned over decades of growth and care. She shares her days with her longtime companion, Annie, living quietly in the comfort and safety that once seemed out of reach.

Cadbury’s journey spans a lifetime—from neglect to dignity, from survival to belonging. She is a living reminder of why rescue matters and what is possible when compassion meets commitment. By supporting Cadbury, you are honoring not just where she began, but everything she became—and ensuring that her final chapter is one of comfort, safety, and love. Cadbury survived the unimaginable. Now, she lives the life every horse deserves.
