Flash, registered as Flash Me, is one of our treasured senior Thoroughbreds whose personality is as bold as his name suggests.

Flash was found at auction during a dispersal—an uncertain and vulnerable moment in his life. Fortunately, he was given the opportunity to retire safely and permanently at Lucky Orphans Horse Rescue, where his story shifted from uncertainty to sanctuary.

After arriving at LOHR, Flash was diagnosed with EOTRH (Equine Odontoclastic Tooth Resorption and Hypercementosis), a painful dental disease that commonly affects older horses. To relieve his discomfort and restore his quality of life, nine teeth had to be extracted. While the procedure was extensive, it dramatically improved his comfort and ability to thrive.

Today, Flash is pain-free, expressive, and full of personality.

He is a favorite among the children who visit the farm, often making them laugh with his silly faces and animated expressions. Feeding time is undoubtedly his favorite part of the day, and he makes sure everyone knows it. Flash loves to play hard and can often be found rearing up on his hind legs—showing his pasture mates just how tall and impressive he still is.

Despite his age and the challenges he has faced, Flash carries himself with spirit, humor, and confidence. He reminds us that senior horses deserve not only comfort and medical care, but joy.

From auction uncertainty to beloved sanctuary character, Flash embodies the resilience and vitality that define the Thoroughbred heart.

Flash proves that even in retirement, life can still be bold, playful, and full of spark. 🐎💙
