Tours and Encounters are public visitor experiences that offer different ways to meet and learn about the horses of Hudson Valley Horse Park.
Tours guide you through the Horse Park while sharing stories of our sanctuary, our mission and the horses who live here.
Encounters provide a more focused, hands-on experience with specific horses under the supervision of an approved guide.
All tours and encounters are ground-based. We do not offer horseback riding. Advance reservations are strongly recommended and availability depends on approved coverage
Looking for an Equine Assisted Development Program?
Tours and Encounters are different from our structured Equine Assisted Development programs. Programs such as our Women’s Group, Youth Development and contracted group sessions have defined learning goals and are facilitated separately.

Founder’s Tour

Behind the Scenes Tour
Discover what it takes to care for the sanctuary herd. Learn about daily horse care, feeding, facility operations and the work required to provide lifelong sanctuary to the horses who call Hudson Valley Horse Park home. Access to specific areas may change according to horse care, weather and daily farm operations

Twilight Tour
Experience Hudson Valley Horse Park as the day winds down. Enjoy a guided evening walk, meet rescued and retired horses, hear their stories, and experience the peaceful atmosphere of the sanctuary at twilight.

Encounters
Connect more closely with members of our sanctuary herd through a supervised ground-based experience. Each encounter offers a different way to meet the horses, learn their stories and experience their individual personalities.

Groom a Retired Racehorse
Meet and groom a retired Thoroughbred in a supervised, ground-based encounter for up to two guests. Learn the horse’s story while experiencing the calming connection created through grooming.

Mingle with the Minis
